In her capacity as Legal Counsel, Lela provides expert legal guidance to the firm on matters including contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, business formation, and intellectual property strategy. As Chief Compliance Officer, she develops and maintains internal policies to ensure firm-wide regulatory adherence, manages all required filings, monitors evolving legal standards, and leads firm training on compliance and ethical conduct.
Lela’s legal background directly informs her work in financial planning. Her deep experience in estate planning, asset protection, and succession planning allows her to offer clients an integrated, strategic approach to managing wealth. She collaborates closely with the Life UnLocked Partners team to develop and implement comprehensive financial plans tailored to each client’s goals. These plans incorporate estate and tax strategies, investment management, retirement and education funding, risk mitigation, and cash flow analysis. Her dual expertise ensures that clients benefit from coordinated planning that is both technically sound and legally robust.
She is also the founder of LSK Legal, a boutique law firm based in California that focuses on corporate law, business transactions, and estate planning. LSK Legal was born out of the needs of Life UnLocked Partners’ clients and the recognition that a well-designed estate plan is a cornerstone of sound financial planning. Through this work, Lela regularly helps business owners and families navigate complex planning scenarios involving closely held businesses, blended families, and multigenerational wealth transfers. Her planning advice is grounded not only in legal precision but also in the personal dynamics that drive meaningful financial outcomes.
Lela began her legal career at the national law firm Jones Day, where she focused on corporate transactions and complex litigation. Outside of her professional life, she is passionate about special needs advocacy and regularly helps families access educational, medical, and insurance supports for their children with disabilities.
Originally from Cebu City, Philippines, Lela is a mother of three. Her two daughters are proud UC Berkeley graduates, and she shares her home with her 12-year-old son. In her free time, she enjoys adventure travel and exploring new cultures around the world.
